Samanta Guerrero is an individual who exemplifies diligence, kindness, and a hunger for answers. She developed all these habits from her upbringing as a Hispanic triplet in a bilingual household. Ms. Guerrero also believes in pushing oneself outside of their comfort zone for a little while each day, regardless of how big or small it is. These qualities have likely helped her overcome the less savory details of her youth, including her existence in an economically underprivileged neighborhood in Kansas, where she noticed the inequalities that were thrust upon her community in every aspect of life. This is what has inspired the development of Ms. Guerrero’s talents and shaped her life mission for the future.
Ms. Guerrero is in the process of obtaining her degree in journalism from Kennesaw State University, which she hopes to use in helping her “share the stories of realities that exist yet go unnoticed” within the Hispanic communities throughout the United States. This statement told me loud and clear that Ms. Guerrero’s reluctance to vocalize her feelings are long behind her. Furthermore, I felt her passion when she stated that she would make her work as detailed as possible to ensure her stories reach as far as they possibly can.
Ms. Guerrero’s tenacity carries into other aspects as well. Whenever she’s not doing her part to put the Hispanic diaspora on the map, she tries to stay off the grid as much as she can. She puts her efforts into finding the best hiking and eating locations to expand her horizons as much as possible. She also tries to indulge in tangible pleasures through her hobbies of reading and collecting old CD’s and records. Ms. Guerrero is a dedicated individual who learns from the experiences she has while actively searching for as many other experiences as possible in order to make her a better storyteller and live her life to the fullest.
