Poetry– the perfect poem doesn’t exist

Professor Orafai reminded me the immense power we demonstrate when we show not only others, but ourselves, that we are teachable. The ability to learn things, and deconstruct assumptions allow us to be understanding, compassionate, but also fearless and courageous human beings.

The Meeting Place– A Novella

I wrote this in November of 2020 for the National Novel Writing Month (NANOWRIMO) write-a-thon. The lessons I learned during this challenge translated into skills that I added to my professional writing career.

Podcasting– Finding, honing my voice to entertain and inform target audiences.

Adding music beds, sound effects and noise reduction later in the editing phase to provide the listener with a smooth, plumped episode.

Filmmaking– Writing is my passion, although the digital production side of creating online stories is something I quickly became fascinated with.

From clips and footage, to sound bites and foley, let’s just say I’ve gotten familiar with Adobe applications.

Photography– Never did I imagine I would be adding ‘photographer’ to the list of roles I would be familiar with. Nonetheless, it has been both challenging and fun learning how to manually operate a camera and understanding how light works.
